After being jerked rudely from sleep by yet another predawn phone call, I complained to Lance that, "Morning people seem to think it is some kind of a virtue to be morning people!" To which he replied, in true Lance fashion, "Well, it kind of is." (see Doc. & Cov. 88:124)
So morning people may be right, but perhaps they need to add empathy to their lengthy list of virtues. Or, if nothing else, just follow common etiquette. For those who don't have a clue what that entails as regarding phone calls, here is a concise explanation from the lovely Isabel Dalhousie:
- "A call before eight in the morning (is) an emergency;
- Between eight and nine (a.m.) it is an intrusion;
- Thereafter calls (may) be made till ten in the evening;
- Although anything after nine-thirty (p.m.) require(s) an apology for the disturbance;
- After 10 (p.m.) one (is) into emergency time again."
That being said, if you really know a person's sleeping habits it is probably acceptable to edit the above to fit his/her particularities. For example, if you would like to reach either Lance or myself at night, feel free to do so until 11:00 p.m. without apology; however, if you would like to reach us in the morning, please refer to Miss Dalhousie's rules! :)

9:00? That's gernerous. Don't call me before 11:00. I'll be up before then, but I'm never ready to talk to anyone but Mike.
